Pamela Franklin - actress from the movie The Legend of Hell House

Bryce Dallas Howard (actress)

Ron Howard (from the TV show Happy Days

Instagram:
Practice images.
I wasn’t sure whether to post these as a group image or as separate images. I didn't think they were good enough for their own separate posts.
These are just some practice images. They are riddled with mistakes, but just like my other practice images I wanted to experiment rather than aim for a serious likeness (I probably didn't need to explain that)

1) actress Pamela Franklin as her character in the movie The Legend of Hell House.

2) actress Bryce Dallas Howard. I used an image from Google image search.

3) Ron Howard. Again I used an image from Google search. I used an old image from his days on the TV show Happy Days.

Doodles - Edmontosaurus #3

via Instagram http://ift.tt/2r8QDn7

More #edmontosaurus drawings. This time on recycled paper. The paper isn’t great, but it was cheaper than the toned paper sketchbooks that aren’t available in Ireland and end up being even more expensive with the cost of postage added on.

I’m experimenting with adding elements of red to the Edmontosaurus’ head. I saw clips from the Walking With Dinosaurs movie (apparently it’s a dreadful movie, but looks amazing) and liked the subtle suggestion of what their nasal openings may have been used for (possibly inflatable soft-tissue sacs).

Doodle - Edmontosaurus #2

I'm still practising drawing #edmontosaurus.

I experimented with adding textures from photos. I didn't put much time into adding the textures, the image was really just something I was playing around with.

The second image is a mix of doodles I did before hand. I tend to approach caricatures of people the same way. I do a lot of quick sketches and doodles to get an idea or feel for what characteristics make a person look the way they do.

I was just experimenting with a different approach and playing around with colours. I should have pushed the shadows a lot more and made them darker.

The hair was an afterthought. I was originally painting a generic bald head. I then added the hair style of Ariel (the little mermaid).

Anonymous gift [Core Membership]

via Instagram http://ift.tt/2piSJg9

Getting the anonymous gift was a bit like someone dropping a ticket or VIP pass into my hands. I didn't know where to begin to look to find the generous person. They had already disappeared back into the crowd of ideas and internet avatars.

My previous picture received quite a lot of attention (well, far more attention than I normally get).
Over on DeviantART, an anonymous user gifted me a 3 Month core membership during that time. It's really strange receiving anything for my work. I don't normally charge (or mention money) when it comes to my work. I'm always worried that my work isn't worth the money or that the person / client may become unhappy with the quality at a later date.

So, it was strange experience receiving the anonymous gift. It means someone appreciated my work / the image and felt it was worth sending me a donation (in the form of a 3 month subscription).

I don't know what to say to that, other than THANK YOU!
