Christmas window painting #3

Cassidy Motors Ltd - Charlestown, Co. Mayo (Dec 2012)

The photo was taken at night, so the camera's flash helps bring up the colours more clearly. However, during the day it is not as vivid as this. I wish it was. But that is something I will try to perfect in future.

A few days after I finishing the pharmacy window, I got a call from another business interested in some kind of Christmas design on their window. I pretty much got an idea of Santa driving one of their cars straight away, and I later discovered that the owner has a similar idea too, so I guess it was fate.

I don't tend to draw cars very often, so this was a challenge, but one I obviously wanted to tackle considering it came to me straight away and I didn't try to avoid it with other ideas.
Cassidy's Motors specialise in Suzuki cars, so I made sure that Santa was driving a car that they sell.

Santa is [suppose to be] driving the Splash. I was originally going to have Rudolph sitting out the other window, Dukes of Hazzard style, but I thought that looked a bit too reckless.
I had also considered making Santa drive the New Susuki SX4 but I thought it looked too aggressive. I don't know why I would think that, but that was my gut feeling so I went with the friendly Splash instead.

Rough concept design in my sketch pad.

There were loads of mistakes in the design and painting, but thankfully nothing too distracting. I find it difficult drawing on anything bigger than an A3 sketch pad.
